Submissions to IDEAS must be made through the OJS system, for which authors must register on the journal's home page. Manuscripts must comply with the requirements listed in the checklist for preparing submissions.

In IDEAS, the following types of contributions are considered:

Original Articles

Original articles must present unpublished work that contributes to knowledge, development, or innovative applications in engineering and applied sciences. Both experimental and theoretical studies are welcome, as well as detailed reports of technological developments, prototypes, and innovative applications derived from undergraduate or graduate projects and applied research. Manuscripts should be between 5 000 and 6 500 words, including title, abstracts, tables, and references. Submissions will be evaluated for clarity of objectives, reproducibility of methodology, quantified results, and critical discussion of limitations and implications.

Review Articles

Review articles should provide a critical and updated synthesis of a topic relevant to engineering practice and applied research. They must demonstrate rigorous selection and analysis of the literature, explicitly presenting the search strategy and inclusion criteria, and be organized in a way that facilitates critical reading. The suggested length is 6 000 to 7 000 words. A sufficiently broad and up-to-date bibliography is expected to ensure comprehensive coverage of the field; an indicative range is 30 to 90 references, prioritizing recent and relevant sources. Submissions will be assessed for originality of approach, comprehensiveness of the review, and practical relevance of the conclusions.

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This manuscript has not been previously published, nor is it currently under consideration by any other journal. If otherwise, a clear explanation has been provided in the editor's comments.
  • The manuscript will not be submitted to any other journal during the editorial process of IDEAS.
  • The opinions expressed in this manuscript are solely those of the authors and do not necessarily represent the official stance of the publishing institution or the funding organization.
  • All author-identifying metadata (including names, institutional affiliations, email addresses, phone numbers, and similar information) have been removed to preserve the integrity of the double-blind peer review process.
  • The file is submitted in an editable format: Microsoft Word
  • All tables, figures, and charts are embedded in the relevant sections of the manuscript and are also provided at the end of the document in their original file formats (.xls, *.pdf, .doc, .docx, or other widely used software).
  • The article complies with the editorial format established by the journal IDEAS. The official template can be downloaded from the following links: Word Format, LATEX Format
  • Active URLs are provided for cited references whenever available.
  • The references are formatted according to the IEEE style.
  • The manuscript relies exclusively on sources published in indexed scientific journals or reputable academic books. Literature reviews and conference abstracts may be cited when deemed relevant to the study.
  • The total number of references remains within the following limits established by the journal: 50 for research articles, 120 for review articles, and 30 for short communications.
  • The average publication date of the cited sources falls within the past 10 years, unless older references are warranted due to their historical relevance or theoretical importance.
  • The manuscript contains an abstract written in Spanish along with its corresponding English translation, both not exceeding 200 words in length.
