Tratamiento con Oxigenación Hiperbárica en quemaduras producidas por uso inadecuado del láser

Abstract
Se describen aspectos importantes del tratamiento de quemaduras producidas por uso inadecuado del láser y el mecanismo de respuesta del organismo al ser tratadas con Oxigenación Hiperbárica (OHB). El caso descrito, recibió veinte sesiones de cámara hiperbárica con una presión de entre 2 y 2,4 atmósferas absolutas (ATAs), al considerarse las quemaduras sufridas de segundo y tercer grado. Se redujo considerablemente el tiempo de cicatrización, el efecto bacteriostático y bactericida evitando infecciones, también la angiogénesis creando nuevos vasos y capilares sanguíneos, estimulando a las células fibroblásticas formadoras de colágeno, favoreciendo la reparación tisular. Las quemaduras consideradas hipóxicas, tratadas con OHB, produjeron hiperoxia con vasoconstricción, disminuyendo el edema y evitándose la extravasación de líquido desde los capilares. En un período relativamente corto se observó la restauración completa de la dermis y la epidermis, no pudiéndose restaurar el hiponiquio del tercer dedo del pie izquierdo. Se evitó la infección y se impidió el corte de la falange distal del tercer dedo necrosado.
