As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word 2013 or a more updated version
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • I declare that the manuscript being submitted to this journal is original; that is to say, its authorship belongs to those authors and coathors who sign in this manuscript.
  • Do not include authors because it will be submitted to double-blind review

Ecos de la Academia Journal is a scientific publication by the Faculty of Education, Science, and Technology of Universidad Técnica del Norte in Ibarra, Ecuador. It uses a double-blind peer-review process for online submissions and publishes articles in Spanish, Kichwa, Portuguese, and English. It is issued biannually (in June and December). The journal accepts original and unpublished works of scientific quality, authored by national and international researchers and professionals.

Articles may have up to five authors, each of whom must have an ORCID registration. The entire review and publication process is free and open access, under the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 Copyright License. Each article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI).

Types of Submissions
The journal accepts various types of submissions, including research articles, review articles, essays, technical notes, book reviews, and editor's notes.

Research Articles: Present original results from scientific research. They should include sections like Title, Authors, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgments, References, and Tables/Figures. Word count ranges from 5,000 to 9,000 words.

Review Articles: Must critically discuss a specific scientific topic and cite at least 20 sources. Sections include Introduction, Development, Discussion, Conclusions, and References. Word count also ranges from 5,000 to 9,000 words.

Essays: Present an author’s ideas and opinions on a scientific topic, supported by arguments and bibliographic reviews. Word count ranges from 2,000 to 3,000 words.

Technical Notes: Describe a technical problem or report on ongoing research. They should have sections like Introduction, Development, Conclusion, and References. Word count ranges from 2,000 to 3,000 words.

Book Reviews: Analyze scientific works and their relevance to research. Word count is between 2,000 and 3,000 words.

Editor’s Notes: Written by the Editor to clarify issues or make important announcements. They aim to communicate with readers and the Editorial Board. Maximum length is 1,000 words.

Article Structure and Formatting
Submissions must adhere to the following format:

-MS Word format (2013 or later)
- A4 size with 2.5 cm margins
- Times New Roman 12, single column, justified text, 1.15 line spacing, and numbered pages.
- Article components include a title, abstract (in Spanish and English), keywords, introduction, methodology, results, discussion, conclusion, references, and optional tables and figures.

Tables and figures must follow APA style, and figures must be high-resolution (300dpi).

Originality and Ethics
Articles must be unpublished and not under review elsewhere. Authors must provide a letter of originality confirming this. The journal holds the publishing rights of accepted articles, and any republication elsewhere must cite the original source.

Review Process
Submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process via the Open Journal System (OJS). Authors are notified within 30 days if their article will proceed to review. The review process can take up to 100 days, and articles may be accepted, accepted with revisions, or rejected.

Final Notes
All authors are responsible for the content of their articles. Each author can appear only once per issue. Conflicts of interest must be declared, and contributions of each author should be specified using the CRediT taxonomy. The journal reserves the right to request additional information from authors during the review process.
