Long-Term Digital Preservation and Interoperability

Ecos de la Academia guarantees the long-term preservation of all published content through various reliable and complementary digital archiving systems. The journal actively participates in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)and has enabled LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS) systems, ensuring the distributed, permanent, and secure storage of its articles in collaborating libraries around the world.

In addition, all issues and articles of the journal are available through:

  • the Open Journal Systems (OJS 3.1.2.4) editorial management platform;
  • the Digital Repository of Universidad Técnica del Norte, which serves as a permanent institutional backup;
  • and academic networks such as Dialnet Plus to enhance visibility and accessibility.

Furthermore, all journal publications incorporate interoperability protocols that allow their content to be harvested by academic distribution systems, including digital repositories and metadata harvesters. In accordance with international interoperability standards, the journal has implemented the OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative – Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) Version 2.0, making its metadata available in multiple formats such as Dublin CoreMARCMARC21, and RFC1807.
