Ethical oversight policy

The editorial board of Ecos de la Academia may request information from authors regarding the ethical standards applied in their research, as well as documentation that allows verification of compliance with principles of scientific integrity, responsibility, transparency, respect for participants, and data protection.

The journal adopts as references the Singapore Statement on Research Integrity and the guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) , especially regarding good practices in research, scientific publishing, editorial review, correction, retraction, and the handling of possible misconduct.

Where applicable, authors must declare the ethical procedures followed in their research, including ethics committee approval, informed consent, informed assent, institutional authorization, permission to use databases, confidentiality protocols, data anonymization, and measures to protect participating individuals or communities.

At the request of editors or reviewers, authors must provide additional information on the ethical safeguards applied, especially when the study involves people, minors, vulnerable communities, sensitive information, images, recordings, interviews, institutional databases, or materials requiring explicit authorization.

The use of photographs, images, recordings, or any visual material in which people appear must have the corresponding authorizations and must not violate the dignity, privacy, safety, image, or rights of the persons represented. When there is a risk of identification, authors must apply anonymization measures or ethically justify its publication.
