Editorial Ethics and Peer Review
The journal applies a rigorous, transparent, and ethically responsible editorial process. All manuscripts are initially reviewed by the editorial team to verify thematic relevance, formal compliance, originality, metadata, ethical statements, and alignment with the journal’s policies.
Manuscripts that pass the preliminary verification stage are sent for peer review under a double-blind model. Editorial decisions are based on academic quality, originality, relevance, methodological consistency, bibliographic currency, and the manuscript’s contribution to the field of education.
The journal uses text similarity verification tools, such as Turnitin or equivalent institutional platforms, to support the originality review before peer evaluation. Detection of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data manipulation, improper authorship, undeclared conflicts of interest, or non-transparent use of artificial intelligence may result in editorial rejection, correction, expression of concern, or retraction, as appropriate.
Digital Preservation
Ecos de la Academia guarantees the digital preservation of published articles through reliable archiving systems, including PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), LOCKSS, and CLOCKSS, in addition to the institutional support of the Repositorio Digital de la Universidad Técnica del Norte. These mechanisms contribute to the permanent storage, integrity, traceability, and long-term access of academic content.
Periodicity and Publication Model
Ecos de la Academia is published biannually, with two issues per year: January-June and July-December. The journal receives manuscripts throughout the year and follows a continuous publication model. Accepted articles may be published online once the editorial process has been completed, with DOI assignment and progressive incorporation into the corresponding issue.
Issues are formally consolidated on June 30 and December 30 of each year.
