Artificial intelligence use policy

Ecos de la Academia adopts criteria for the transparent, ethical, and responsible use of artificial intelligence in scientific publications, taking as a reference the Criteria for the transparent, ethical, and responsible use of artificial intelligence in scientific publications (CRITERIA) .

Accordingly, the journal establishes the following guidelines:

  1. Artificial intelligence cannot be credited as an author or co-author of a manuscript.
  2. Ethical, intellectual, methodological, and legal responsibility for the content rests entirely with the human authors.
  3. Any use of artificial intelligence tools requires critical human supervision, verification of information, and quality control by the authors.
  4. The manuscript must preserve the academic voice, argumentative coherence, and stylistic unity of its authors.
  5. Substantial uses of artificial intelligence must be declared transparently and traceably, indicating the tool used, the purpose of its use, and the stage of the process in which it was employed.
  6. The editorial team may use technical tools and editorial criteria to identify indications of content generated, altered, or manipulated through artificial intelligence.

Undeclared, inappropriate, or misleading use of artificial intelligence may be considered an editorial irregularity. Depending on the seriousness of the case, the manuscript may be returned for correction, rejected, or, if the issue is detected after publication, subject to correction, expression of concern, or retraction.
