Privacy policy

Names, email addresses, institutional affiliations, academic identifiers, and other data provided to Ecos de la Academia will be used exclusively for the journal’s editorial, scientific, administrative, and communication purposes.

These data will not be sold, transferred, or shared with third parties for commercial, advertising, or external marketing purposes. Ecos de la Academia does not use information registered on its platform for commercial advertising unrelated to its academic and editorial activities.

In accordance with applicable personal data protection regulations, data subjects are informed that, by voluntarily registering their information on the OJS platform, forms, email communications, or other channels enabled by the journal, they authorize its processing for editorial management, communication with authors, reviewers, and readers, submission administration, peer review processes, publication, preservation, indexing, metadata generation, and academic activities related to the journal.

Data processing will be carried out under criteria of confidentiality, security, relevance, proportionality, and legitimate purpose. Access to information will be limited to the editorial team, editors, reviewers, authorized technical staff, and systems required for the journal’s management.

Data anonymization and ethical compliance: authors are responsible for ensuring that personal, sensitive, or identifiable data included in their manuscripts have been duly anonymized, pseudonymized, or processed in accordance with applicable regulations and ethical research principles. Real names, initials, identification numbers, contact details, recognizable images, or other elements that may directly or indirectly identify participants, informants, patients, students, communities, or institutions must not be included unless there is explicit authorization and sufficient ethical justification.

When the study includes sensitive information, individual cases, images, recordings, interviews, data from minors, vulnerable communities, or any material that may compromise the privacy of participants, authors must confirm that they have obtained informed consent, institutional authorization, or ethical approval, as applicable, and that they have adopted technical measures to prevent re-identification.

Ethical compliance statement: when required by the nature of the study, authors must indicate whether the research was approved by an ethics committee, institutional research committee, REC, IRB, or equivalent body. The statement must include the name of the committee, responsible institution, approval date, and protocol or approval number, where available.

When the research protocol is publicly registered, authors may include the corresponding link, for example, in platforms such as Open Science Framework (OSF) or other recognized academic repositories.
