Main Article Content
Abstract
The work-educational environment has become one of the main barriers that prevents higher education teachers from carrying out physical activity, they cannot exercise adequately. The objective was to characterize by: age, gender, ethnicity and marital status 50 teachers from the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Technical University of North-Ecuador; In addition, identify the barriers that they present in the practice of exercise. The quantitative, descriptive, non-experimental, and cross-sectional approach shows that the vast majority of teachers are over forty years old and belong to the female gender and mestizo ethnicity, half are married. The Self-report of barriers to the practice of physical exercise (ABPEF) highlights as barriers among teachers having too much work (M = 6.26; SD = 2.92) and not finding the time necessary for physical exercise (M = 5, 32; SD = 3.40). It is concluded that teachers between the ages of 40 and 49, the majority of whom are female and married, are very likely to show the presence of these barriers.
