Post-Publication Academic Discussion Policy

Ecos de la Academia promotes responsible, critical and evidence-based academic discussion concerning articles published in the journal. Readers, authors, reviewers, researchers and other members of the academic community may submit observations, comments, requests for clarification or scientific criticism related to the content of a published article.

Communications must clearly identify the article under discussion, including its title and DOI, and present academic arguments supported by evidence, references or verifiable reasoning. They must use respectful, objective language focused on the scientific content of the work.

The Editor-in-Chief or designated editor will conduct an initial assessment of the relevance and academic basis of the communication. Where necessary because of the nature or complexity of the discussion, independent specialists may be asked to provide an assessment.

When a communication is considered academically relevant, the authors of the article under discussion will have the opportunity to review the observations and provide a reasoned response. When the exchange makes a significant contribution to scientific debate, the journal may publish the communication and, where applicable, the authors' response as post-publication academic correspondence linked to the original article.

Post-publication academic correspondence does not constitute an ordinary type of scientific article and does not replace procedures intended to correct the published record. Where a communication reveals possible errors, integrity concerns or indications of misconduct that may affect the scholarly record, it will be handled in accordance with the Corrections, Expressions of Concern and Retractions Policy and the other applicable research-integrity policies.

Complaints or appeals concerning editorial decisions and procedures will be handled in accordance with the Handling of Complaints and Appeals policy.
