Plagiarism and Similarity Screening Policy

Ecos de la Academia follows the guidance and procedures of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to prevent and manage potential cases of plagiarism. The journal considers unacceptable the copying or paraphrasing of texts, ideas or data belonging to others without proper attribution; the non-transparent reuse of one's own work; duplicate publication; citation manipulation; and the use of third-party materials without the corresponding authorization when such authorization is required.

Manuscripts may be screened using Turnitin as a tool supporting editorial assessment. The similarity percentage does not, by itself, determine the existence of plagiarism or the editorial decision. Matches will be analysed according to their nature, extent, location, attribution and context.

When irregularities are suspected, the editorial team will request the relevant explanations and adopt proportionate measures in accordance with COPE guidance and, when applicable, the journal's Corrections, Expressions of Concern and Retractions Policy .
