Abstract
La memoria histórica de los pueblos representa su riqueza cultural y social. Por ello, la importancia de preservar personajes, genios, artistas, que marcaron y dejaron profunda huella en la humanidad. Aunque resulte difícil creerlo, en esta época en que la tecnología ha supuesto un libre acceso a la información y las barreras de tiempo y distancia aparentemente se extinguieron, todavía existen historias maravillosas que no fueron difundidas en su momento y resulta inaceptable que permanezcan en el anonimato. El objetivo de este artículo es difundir la historia de Don Sergio Enrique Espinosa, imbabureño, oriundo del cantón Antonio Ante que permaneció gran parte de su vida en la parroquia Vacas Galindo, ubicada en la Zona de Intag (Cotacachi). Personaje cuyo ingenio le permitió, sin poseer ninguna preparación académica, elaborar con los materiales que estaban a su alcance un medio de transporte que perfectamente puede ser considerado un automóvil. El estudio está basado en una investigación cualitativa, que gracias a la técnica de la entrevista a profundidad permitió conocer el entorno en el que vivió “Don Enrique”, su trabajo, descendencia y, sobre todo, su legado. Como resultados de esta investigación se generaron piezas gráficas y audiovisuales, a más de esta publicación.
