La Arqueología y el Arte: los artistas como arqueólogos

Abstract
Desde sus orígenes, la Arqueología ha vivido ligada a las Artes. Los pioneros en el desarrollo de esta ciencia actuaban como anticuarios de obras que sacaban a la luz tras haber sido cubiertas por el polvo de los siglos. Posteriormente, con sus trabajos dieron impulso al desarrollo de la Historia del Arte, y al conocimiento más exhaustivo de la materialidad de las sociedades pretéritas. Hoy en día, los arqueólogos se sirven de técnicas artísticas para conocer nuestro pasado (estudios de pigmentación, fotointerpretación, reconocimientos de estilos en la Prehistoria, por citar algunos) y los propios artistas participan de las investigaciones y de su difusión y utilizan como base de sus exposiciones conceptos arqueológicos, promoviendo esa interrelación que tan fructífera ha sido para ambos campos del conocimiento.
