El mercado del arte contemporáneo: la presencia femenina

Abstract
En el mercado del arte contemporáneo la mayoría de las obras presentadas pertenecen a artistas estadounidenses, europeos y chinos, y en la mayoría de los casos hombres. Tanto la presencia de latinoamericanos como de mujeres artistas es escasa. En el marco de la crítica feminista en las artes, se realiza un análisis cuantitativo de la presencia de mujeres en el mercado del arte contemporáneo de Occidente y en Ecuador en el periodo 2013-2015. Se estudian los informes facilitados por Artprice (líder mundial de la información sobre el mercado del arte) para medir la presencia femenina en las subastas mundiales y las cotizaciones del arte femenino comparado con el masculino en el periodo indicado anteriormente. En el caso del arte ecuatoriano, que normalmente queda fuera de los procesos del mercado mundial, se analizan las publicaciones, entrevistas, catálogos y diccionarios de arte contemporáneo para revelar la presencia femenina en él. El estudio demuestra que la situación de desequilibrio de género y escasa presencia femenina en el mercado del arte contemporáneo sigue existiendo actualmente.
