Medidas socioeducativas vs. privativas de la libertad a adolescentes infractores. Evidencias de las ciudades de Ambato y Latacunga en el período 2014-2017

Abstract
La criminalidad juvenil es un problema social en el Ecuador. A partir de ello, la presente investigaciónintenta comprender en qué medida ha venido impactando la aplicación de medidas socioeducativas paraadolescentes infractores en la región centro del Ecuador a partir del 2013 y hasta el 2017 en la evolución dela delincuencia juvenil. A partir de datos estadísticos a nivel nacional y de trabajo de campo en Latacungay Ambato se arriba a un resultado preliminar que permite concluir que, a pesar del cambio de paradigmaen materia punitiva para con los adolescentes infractores, la aplicación de las medidas socioeducativas noha ido en aumento sino que, contrariamente a lo normado legalmente, se ha consolidado la aplicación demedidas privativas de libertad aun cuando la cantidad de adolescentes infractores detenidos ha venido disminuyendo significativamente.
